Laptop Computer Indicators

Disclosed is an indicator for indicating power supply
status and drive status of FDD and HDD in a laptop computer.  This
indicator achieves clear and wide-angle view indication using a
prism.

      In Fig. 1, a laptop computer comprises a body 1, a display
panel 2 and a prism 3.  In Fig. 2, the indicator comprises the prism
1, a sheet 2, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) 3, a reflector 4 and a
board 5.  The gap between the prism 1 and the sheet 2 is an essential
part in this indicator.  In direction A, the diskette drive in-use
symbol (FDD) and the fixed disk drive in-use symbol (HDD) and the
power-good symbol (Power) are all visible.  In direction B, only the
power-good symbol (Power) is visible.  Due to the prism 1, no
distortion occurs in any symbol sight along any direction.
Therefore, when the display panel is opened (see from direction A),
the three symbols (FDD and HDD and Power) are clear to see, and when
the display panel is closed (see from directions A and B), the
power-good symbol (Power) is clear to see in the wide-angle view.
