Customized Application Action Bar for Panels

      Disclosed is a design which allows OS/2* Query Manager
Panel designers to customize Application Action Bar options.

      Panels are customized screens that can be used to add, change,
delete or browse data in database table(s).  A panel can be run in
ADD, CHANGE or SEARCH mode.

      A running panel has an Application Action Bar which is the
high- lighted area at the top of a panel containing the choices
currently available in the panel.  There will always be an Exit
Application Action Bar choice, but the user may customize the name
and number of the remaining Application Action Bar items.  Selection
of one of the Application Action Bar items displays a pull-down menu
containing the item's currently available action choices.

      To customize a panel's Application Action Bar options, a panel
designer must fill out the Panel Action pop-up window.  Some of the
information that must be specified in the window includes the name of
each Application Action Bar item, the name of each action choice
avail- able in each Application Action Bar item's pull-down menu and
the panel mode in which each action choice is available.  If the
panel designer does not specify an Application Action Bar item name,
Actions will be the default.  If all the entries for a particular
Application Action Bar item are defined for one Mode, that item will
only appear in the Appli- cation Action Bar for the mode specified.
