Abstract

This article describes a method for OfficeVision*/2 (OV/2) to allow users to specify the history file redirection parameter, '/m', when registering OV/2 templates with the OV/2 Batch Registration utility, ORS.EXE. ORS.EXE will log all registration history information for the templates being registered to the specified history file.

Registration Parameter "/M" for Template History File

This article describes a method for OfficeVision*/2
(OV/2) to allow users to specify the history file redirection
parameter, '/m', when registering OV/2 templates with the OV/2 Batch
Registration utility, ORS.EXE.  ORS.EXE will log all registration
history information for the templates being registered to the
specified history file.

The OV/2 Batch Registration Utility, ORS.EXE normally logs all
registration history information to a default file called MASTFILE.RS
on the C drive. Registration history information is simply a copy of
the information supplied in each .ORS file specified for the
template(s) being registered.  All .ORS information is appended to
the history file for each template in a registration list. ORS.EXE
uses the registration history file to register all template
information with OV/2 so that the applications can work successfully
in OV/2.  A registration history file is useful because more than one
template is usually registered when running ORS.EXE.  Although
ORS.EXE could register each template on an individual basis, use of a
history file containing ALL .ORS information is considerably faster.
A description of the way ORS.EXE handles the history file follows.

OV/2 will now allow users to specify the history file
redirection parameter, '/m', when registering OV/2 templates with the
OV/2 Batch Registration utility, ORS.EXE. If the specified file is
fully qualified, ORS.EXE will write all registration history
information to that fully qualified file. For example: 'ORS PR.ORS
/m=...
