Clipboard Format for Process Manager

Disclosed is a clipboard format called the Parsed Data
Interchange Format (PDIF).  It is a private data format for use in
the cut-copy- paste functions of the Presentation Manager* clipboard.

A typical PDIF element is shown in the figure and consists of a
tag and the data associated with the tag.  The tag is composed of an
identifier and a data type.  The data type can be any of several
standard data types or application-defined structures.  Following the
tag is the length of the data and the data itself.

This format is unique because applications can parse it without
knowing which tags are present and what order they are in.  Every
element in the format is self-defining.

The pasting application can ignore tags and skip the
corresponding data because its length is known.  Future enhancements
to the format are backward compatible with earlier versions.
