Abstract

This article describes a method for OfficeVision*/2 (OV/2) applications to tell the OV/2 Batch Registration Utility, ORS.EXE, to save their .ORS template information (specified during the exit routine) and to append the .ORS template information to a master registration history file. This method needs to be used with the OV/2 Batch Registration utility, ORS.EXE, when registering OV/2 system-shipped templates.

Parameter "/Append" for Registration of System Shipped Templates

This article describes a method for OfficeVision*/2
(OV/2) applications to tell the OV/2 Batch Registration Utility,
ORS.EXE, to save their .ORS template information (specified during
the exit routine) and to append the .ORS template information to a
master registration history file. This method needs to be used with
the OV/2 Batch Registration utility, ORS.EXE, when registering OV/2
system-shipped templates.

During OV/2 Installation, OV/2 applications run an exit routine
at the end of their part of the installation process.  These
applications need a quick, easy method to specify their class and
template information for registration with OV/2.  The Office Batch
Registration Utility can register each template individually, using
the '/sysreg' parameter, but this method of individual registration
takes far more time than if ALL templates were registered at the same
time.  This is due to several factors:  OIP is not up, the INI
process must be started up and brought down for each template being
registered, and the default INI and NIF path must be searched for
each time /sysreg is specified.

OV/2 will allow applications to specify the ORS.EXE
registration parameter, '/append' when calling ORS.EXE during
execution of their OV/2 Installation exit routines. ORS.EXE will
append the .ORS template file information (specified during the
application exit routine) to a master file.  Th...
