Plastic Card Retention Clip

Presented is a logic card retention clip designed to provide
positive entrapment of a logic card within one of a pair of covers
which, when assembled, form a logic card assembly, or "book".

The figure details the construction of this design.  A book 1
is comprised of covers 2,3 and contains logic card 4 locating on pads
5 in cover 3.  Cover 3 airflow vents 8 are modified to contain
triangular forms 9 at various points; forms 9 do not increase the
complexity of either the part or the tools necessary to make it.
Card 4 is retained by plastic molded clip 10 having integral spring
arms 11 and darts 12 on legs 13.  When clip 10 is installed, legs 13
are passed between card 4 and the portion of cover 3 containing forms
9, compressing spring arms 11 until darts 12 engage with and snap
over triangular forms 9.  Spring arms 11 act to apply pressure to
card 4, locating it on pads 5 and, because legs 13 are trapped
between card 4 and a vertical portion of cover 3, clip 10 is
prevented from tipping and losing position.  Spring arms 11 are
designed to both apply pressure to card 4 and to accommodate
thickness variations in card 4 stemming either from tolerance or from
the use of card substrates of a different nominal thickness.
