Abstract

Disclosed is a new drive pin design for form-feed tractors. This design includes a molded plastic pin covered by a metal shell with a flange. Fig. 1 reveals the surface (Item 1) on the device which acts as the barrier to the form. The flange diameter (Item 2) is slightly larger than the maximum hole diameter of the forms, thus preventing the form from entering any void created below the flange during the molding process thus eliminating a catch point.

      Disclosed is a new drive pin design for form-feed tractors.
This design includes a molded plastic pin covered by a metal shell
with a flange.  Fig. 1 reveals the surface (Item 1) on the device
which acts as the barrier to the form.  The flange diameter (Item 2)
is slightly larger than the maximum hole diameter of the forms, thus
preventing the form from entering any void created below the flange
during the molding process thus eliminating a catch point.

      Fig. 2 shows the tractor drive pin with a flange molded through
the belt.  The form (paper) is shown on the pin flange as it would
appear during application.  This flange will prevent a catch point at
the base of the pin and belt.

      Fig. 3 reveals the flange of the pin that provides a feature
that will allow the pin to be located accurately in the mold such
that the drive belt to pin perpendicularity is maintained from pin to
pin.  This eliminates controlling the molding process to achieve
perpendicular alignment between the pin with flange to the belt.

      Fig. 3 (Item 3) and (Item 4) illustrates the mold bases needed
to achieve the disclosed pin configuration necessary to maintain
perpendicular alignment of the pin with a flange in the mold base.
