Raised Taper Slider

A design of a magnetic recording slider is described.

Referring to the figures, rails and taper are spatially
separated.  The taper is located between the two untapered rails.
The area behind the trailing edge of the taper can be either in plane
with the rail surfaces, or it can be raised above the air bearing
surface, e.g., by etching.  One possible realization of this concept
is shown.
