Color Filter for Liquid Crystal Display

      Disclosed is a color filter alignment mark which enables
single mask process.

      The figure shows alignment marks of color filter mask. A(i)
(from 1 to n : n is a number of colors) shows alignment marks for
an arbitrary color A pixel.  The guide marks for other color, G(1),
G(2), G(n) are arranged in the same position of pixel arrangement for
color A.  The relative position between color A and i is the same as
between alignment mark A(i) and G(i).  Alignment mark A(i) and guide
mark G(i) constitute one alignment mark group.  These alignment mark
groups are arranged apart from the display area and are not piled up
to each other.

      Practically, color A patterning makes other color's guide
marks.  For patterning the next color 1, alignment mark A(1) will
align to guide mark G(1) of previous color pattern.  In the same way,
alignment mark A(i) will align to guide mark G(i).

      For example, there are no guide marks for color filter pixel in
the case of black matrix on TFT process.  The color filter disclosed
herein makes it possible to process the color filter pattern without
black matrix and to save the cost of making an exclusive mask for the
guide mark.
