Abstract

A method is described here that allows a recipient to auto-forward on a delayed manner for all or any 'new' items that are in recipient's in-basket. The current auto-forwarding scheme works on incoming mail but does not take into account mail that has already arrived but the recipient has yet to take any actions on. This new method allows the user to 'forward' those arrived mail items to new addressee like any incoming mail.

Delayed Auto Forwarding Mail Capability

A method is described here that allows a recipient to
auto-forward on a delayed manner for all or any 'new' items that are
in recipient's in-basket.  The current auto-forwarding scheme works
on incoming mail but does not take into account mail that has already
arrived but the recipient has yet to take any actions on.  This new
method allows the user to 'forward' those arrived mail items to new
addressee like any incoming mail.

An arrived mail is defined as those mail items that have been
delivered to recipient's in-basket.  However, one or more of those
items may be waiting for recipient's action.  The delayed
auto-forwarding allows the user to forward those "new" items to
another recipient automatically. This method is enabled by the user
by settling the date/time of auto-forwarding and indicating whether
auto-forward should consider items that have already and waiting for
his/her action.  Once this option is set, at the date/time specified,
all arrived "new" items will be automatically forwarded to recipient
delegate specified by the primary recipient.
