Zooming On Visual Calendar Data

Provided is a technique for zooming in on visual calendar event
details in order to improve resolution of displayed information.

Conventional calendar capabilities are assumed.  The following
capabilities are provided as enhancements:
O    Allow the time scale of the calendar to be zoomed, i.e.,
increase or decrease granularity.
O    While the zoom function is applied, allow the scheduling area to
display information from the zoomed area of the calendar.
O    Display a "scroll box" like indicator on the time scale to
indicate what part of the calendar is being viewed in the scheduling
area.
O    Allow direct manipulation of the scroll box, together with
dynamic interaction with the scheduling area.
O    Allow the time scale to assume properties of conventional busy
bars.

Benefits to the end user include new functionality and
flexibility, improved usability, reduced worksteps in viewing busy
schedules, and reduced errors.
