Abstract

Disclosed is a technique for handling, transporting, inspecting, and temporarily stiffening of thin, ferromagnetic product, such as the 5-mil-thick cores used to build the Advanced Carrier Technology structure. Damage caused by this processing of such thin panels can be avoided with the support of magnetic sheets and rollers.

Magnetic Handling And Processing Technique

      Disclosed is a technique for handling, transporting,
inspecting, and temporarily stiffening of thin, ferromagnetic
product, such as the 5-mil-thick cores used to build the Advanced
Carrier Technology structure.  Damage caused by this processing of
such thin panels can be avoided with the support of magnetic sheets
and rollers.

      Figs. (A) and (B) show the magnetic sheet concept fashioned
into stacked shelving or boxes for storage and transport needs.  Fig.
(C) demonstrates a slotted box version for storage and
transportation.  Fig. (D) uses either a magnetic sheet, permanent, or
electro-magnet to enhance assembly processes by temporarily
stiffening the thin panel.  Fig. (E) shapes the magnet into a belt
conveyor system for multiple applications shown.  Fig. (F) transforms
the conveyor to a roller- style system which would allow chemical
spray processes to be performed to the delicate panels.
