Method to Report Multiple Status Indication for Confirmation Request

A method is described to allow multiple status
notification and reporting for a single mail item that was previously
distributed by an end user.

The new method specifies a protocol for an application to
permit notification, reporting, and indication of multiple status for
a single distribution.   This is useful when two or more status
reporting are required to indicate to the user that mail was
successfully distributed and delivered, like multiple auto-forwarding
before the final delivery.

The reporting and notification processes are specified in terms
of three logical office network components.   The responsibilities
are defined in respect to each components and their interaction with
other components.

The 'source node' is located with the end user and accepts
request on behalf of the user.  This component is responsible for
submitting the request to the origination node where the server
resides.  The source node also provides the returned multiple status
to the end user in a meaningful way.  A status vector is defined such
that status is kept in a dynamic fashion for the end user.

The 'originating node' accepts the distribution request from
the source node.  A confirmation entry is created for that request if
confirmation is requested.  To support multiple status reporting
structure, a dynamic status vector structure is created for that
entry.  For...
