RVX LINK Multislot Mechanism

      A so called RVX LINK allows connecting up to FOUR Active
Remote Modules (ARMs) to interface Teleprocessing Lines or Data
Terminal Equipment either in RS232 or V35 or X21 standard interfaces.

      This article describes how the full RVX LINK data rate can be
dedicated to ONE ARM.
RVX LINK MULTISLOT STRUCTURE

      The RVX LINK frame is shown in Fig. 2. It comprises a plurality
of slots comprising data D and control C fields. In addition, each
Data/Control couple is ended by a synchronization SYNC byte.
      Each ARM has a Mode Register.
      1.   ARM Sleeping mode
           A sleeping ARM reads all received data on the LINK but
does not transmit any data.
      2.   ARM Multislot mode
           The ARM in Multislot mode will read all received data and
transmit data in the four Data/Control fields.
      3.   ARM Normal mode
           The ARM in Normal mode will read all received data and
transmit data in its associated Data/Control field.
MULTISLOT MODE

      The Control Unit will set the Mode Register in one ARM in the
Multislot mode.

      The Mode Registers in the three other ARMs will be set in the
Sleeping Mode.

      So the ARM in Multislot Mode will take the full RVX LINK data
rate (up to 256 KBPS)
MULTISLOT MODE EXIT

      The Control Unit will perform a Reset RVX LINK to update the
four ARM Mode Registers and return to Normal Mode.
