Sealing Flap for Gates With Integrated Splash Water Protection

The described flap for splash water protecting outdoor
automatic teller machines is an extension of the subject matter of
the German Patent Application 37 37 882.1.

Design permitting, the gates of automatic teller machines are
positioned such that splash water is kept from entering.  Where the
position of the gates is independent of the design of the automatic
teller machines, special technical precautions are taken to repel
splash water.

The present invention splash water protects the gates by a
labyrinth feature provided between the sealing flap and the front
cover.  Details of this feature are shown in the cross-sectional view
of the flap and the front cover with the gate closed.

The labyrinth feature is formed laterally from two ribs 1 on
flap 2 and the associated indentations 3 in front cover 4.  At the
rear end, protection is provided by front cover 4 and rib 5.  At the
front end, protection is obtained by rib 6 on the front cover and
recess 7 in flap 2.
