Print: Selectable Image Icon From Properties

This article describes a method by which the OS/2* Office
printer icon can be changed to the OS/2 Office plotter icon by users
and system administrators.

In OS/2 Office both a printer and a plotter icon are available
for use. Users and system administrators are creators of printer
instances and they have knowledge of the device under use which is
not available with OS/2 Office. The icon used should be selectable
from within properties.

On the device properties panel there will be two radio buttons
under a resource group called "Icon Image". Beside one radio button
will be the normal printer image and beside the other will be the
normal plotter image. The default selection is the printer image. The
user would select the plotter image radio button to indicate that the
plotter icon is desired. The icon image used will be the one selected
until a change is again made via device properties.

This invention allows users to select the correct icon image
for the attached device being used.

Using the correct image for an attached device dispels
confusion and helps with recognition.
