LAN Machine Identifier Beacon

      A set of programs is described which defines a method for easy
identification of specific LAN machines (i.e. Domain Controllers,
Servers, Requesters) from one single remote machine.

      In large labs where machines undergo dynamic configuration
changes to achieve a desired test environment, it is desirable to
quickly determine the current Local Area Network (LAN) configurations
of machines without checking each machine individually. The present
article can be invoked from any single machine to identify remote
machine configurations with an audible and/or user interface beacon.
Often, analysts sit down in front of dozens of machines to figure out
which machines were configured as LAN SERVERs, LAN REQUESTERs and
DOMAIN CONTROLLERs.  There is no method for indicating these machine
configurations from a single remote machine. The present article is a
LAN program which can be executed by any LAN REQUESTER having
administrator authority on any DOMAIN CONTROLLER. The LAN REQUESTER,
through a user interface, specifies any of the following information;
- TOKEN RING ADDRESS
- LAN REQUESTER LOGON NAME
- LAN SERVER NAME
- DOMAIN CONTROLLER DOMAIN NAME

      Once one of the required search data above is entered, the
program communicates across the physically connected Token Ring to
determine the machine which meets the criteria. Upon successful
