Abstract

On Figure 1 transistors T1 and T2, along with resistors R1, R2, and R3, provide a voltage reference (Vr) for an ECL type circuit. This Vr tracks with Vcc, thus keeping Vcc-Vr=K. If IeT2>>IeT1 and IeT1>>IbT2, then T2 and R2 act as a regulator for IbT2.

This Vr tracks with Vcc, thus keeping Vcc-Vr=K. If IeT2>>IeT1 and

      Figure 2 shows the addition of D1 which results in better
temperature compensation, at the expense of Vee noise to1, because as
temperature increases, the diode drop decreases resulting in an
increase of current through T2.
