Multimedia Bitmap Video Imaging in an OS/2 Window

      This invention provides a means for simulating motion
video sequences on a computer screen without the need for specialized
hardware through a simulation technique.

      Current MultiMedia motion video solutions involve special
hardware to integrate the video with other data types on the OS/2*
desktop (i.e., view motion video on the computer screen). In some
cases the special hardware takes the form of an add-on card(s). In
other cases, the special hardware is integrated into the design of
the computer's mother board. In both cases, there is an additional
cost to provide the capability to view motion video.

      This invention does not require additional hardware to view the
motion video sequences. The technique is as follows:
O    Convert the original frames of the video sequences to bitmap
images. This can be accomplished using a video camera attached to a
PS/2* with IBM Video Capture Adapter and OS/2 Image Support software.
O    Store resulting bitmap images on random-access media. These
bitmaps may be stored on soft or hard disk, CDROM, or LAN Server for
future access.
O    Read bitmap images from the storage device and display them in
rapid succession on the area of the computer screen defined by an
OS/2 window.
