One Chip Integrated Circuit Concept of SCSI Active Terminator

      Disclosed is the concept of a one-chip SCSI Active
Terminator that gets an easier operation of ON/OFF, a good
reliability, and a smaller placement area than a socket resister-type
terminator. The concept can provide the best solution of SCSI active
termination for the small devices connected to the SCSI bus.

      The concept is a one-chip integrated circuit that consists of
all the components for the SCSI active terminator shown in the
figure.  Diode (1) is placed on a power input line that makes a
terminator work when input power is lost using termination power from
the SCSI bus.  A 2.85-volt push-pull type regulator (2) for
termination center voltage, a switch (3) for termination ON/OFF, and
a resistor (4) are provided.  A switch control logic is also provided
for termination ON/OFF by the condition of a control pin, which is
defined as a pull-up to 5 volts or a pull-down to ground level.
