Positive Planetary Drive for Rotary Systems

      Disclosed is a low maintenance positive planetary drive
for use in spray developing, etching and cleaning rotary systems.
This system provides uniform and consistent rotation of workpieces
mounted on the planets.

      Referring to Fig. 1, drive shaft 1 rotates carrier 2, which
inpinges on planets 3 to revolve them about the shaft. Workpieces 4
are mounted on planets 3.  The planets have external teeth 5 which
mate with internal teeth 6 of fixed ring gear 7.  Positive planetary
drive is thereby ensured

      Referring to the photograph of the working model in Fig. 2,
detent 8 is provided to set up planet gear 3 to precisely mesh with
ring gear 7.  This feature is required due to gap 9 in ring gear 7
which allows removal of planets 3 by a robotic system.  The whole
system is rotated by drive shaft 1.  The parts to be etched, etc.,
may then be replaced without interrupting operation of the system.
