Auto-forwarded Status

A methodology is described which permits a mail requester to
know recipient(s) of a mail item have auto-forwarded their mail.

A status returned in an Unformatted Status Document so that the
status can be reported by the receiving application(s) to the
originator(s) of the subject distribution through an end user
interface is described here. A new status code is returned on the
Document Interchange Architecture LIST STATUS command. The status
code is returned in the Unformatted Status Document which originated
in coordination with applications governing the auto-forwarding
mechanism (e.g., new user id management). The status code indicates
the recipient has auto-forwarded mail to another user id, probably a
new id for the intended recipient.  The receiving server will retain
the status to report properly to originators. The server to requester
status communication will ensure the status is reported to the
requester for appropriate report to the originator through an
associated user interface.

A two-byte status code indicating the mail auto-forwarded is
implemented. The auto-forwarded user id may be included in the
Document Interchange Architecture status so the actual recipient id
is also reported to the requester through the requester user
interface. Status can be reported via the originator's user interface
in place of the normal delivered status or as a supplementary
notification not to replace the normally reported d...
