Technique for Action Dialog Bypass

Provided is a technique for bypassing action dialog menus in
order to overcome deficiencies with conventional approaches.

Users are provided with conventional functionality and user
interface techniques.  In addition, users are provided with the
following extensions:
O    Allow the default keyboard and mouse operations, which
always display action windows in order to update the parameters of
the action and which always require user interaction to close or
perform the action
O    Provide an augmented direct manipulation operation which
results in using defaulted action parameters for performing the
action.  The action window is not displayed and normal action
processing continues.
O    Provide an augmented keyboard operation which results in
using defaulted action parameters for performing the action.  The
action window is not displayed and normal action processing
continues.
O    Allow a simple user customization of action dialogs so
that the dialog bypass technique becomes the default and displaying
the action dialog windows happens via augmented keyboard and mouse
operations

Benefits to the end user include new functionality and
flexibility, improved usability, reduced worksteps for most
interactions, improved user attitudes, and reduced errors.
