Abstract

Disclosed is a control device that would allow the users of a personal computer to set the speed of a particular object in their application. In applications where a speed control device is needed for the user interface, a device which would be independent of language and culture is needed. Current speed control devices rely on numerical value representation and must be translated properly for different audiences. If, in these devices, a numerical value is not shown, the acceleration and deceleration directions remain ambiguous. A graphical speed control showing a person in different states of walking-thrurunning will be intuitively clear to all human users of computer. The user can manipulate and set the desired speed via a mouse or a keyboard device.
