Skew Head Burnish Process

      The illustrated process and embodiment is used to shear
asperities from rigid-magnetic media, creating a surface burnishing
process.

      Skewing the head in the relationship to the centerline of the
disk and rotation shown (see the figure), you shear off asperities by
hitting them with the edge/surfaces 1, thus allowing the side of the
rail to perform the cutting action.  The skew (attack angle) allows
the head to ride lower to the disk surface than normal, since the
flyheight is proportional to the skew angle used, therefore also
giving a much closer to the surface cut.
