Liquid Crystal Display

Disclosed is the wide viewing angle Liquid Crystal Display
(LCD) which has a bend-alignment liquid crystal cell to use the
optically compensated film.  The optically compensated film is
composed discotic  film, which is made from discotic liquid crystal
and biaxial film.

The Figure shows the component of this LCD device.  In this
Figure, bend-alignment liquid crystal layer (a) is aligned along the
direction of the arrow.  The discotic film layers (b) are also
aligned along the direction of the arrow.  (c) is a biaxial film
layer, whose slow axis is parallel or perpendicular to the
transmittance axis of the  polarizer (d).
