Problem Determination Tool for Computer System Hung

      Disclosed is a debugging tool for problem determination against
an hung-up state on a computer system by using a hot-plugging
function.

      The tool is generally an adapter card attachable to an
Input/Output (I/O) bus for the computer system to be tested.  The
tool includes the following elements:
  1.  Bus status indicating circuit
  2.  Bus master circuit
  3.  Communication port
  4.  Hot-pluggable bus interface circuit
  5.  External power supply unit

      The bus status indicating circuit gives the status of control
signals by means of a Light Emitting Device (LED), address and data
by a display device, clock signal by counter, and voltage level of
the power  by LED.

      The bus master circuit has a bus master function and includes a
micro processor, a Read Only Memory (ROM) for permanently storing
micro codes, and a nonvolatile memory for memory dump.

      The communication circuit supports external control of this
tool.

      The hot-pluggable bus interface circuit allows the tool to be
hot-pluggably attached to a hung-up system without powering it off.

      The external power supply unit supplies the power voltage to
the tool.

      By the above constitution, the tool enables problem
determination for a hung-up computer system without powering off.
