Abstract

The Lotus Notes* software product allows multiple people to edit (and save) the same document (data record). This can create duplicate records with different data that must be resolved manually (Lotus calls these records "SAVE Conflicts"). Manual resolution of these two or more conflicting data versions is time consuming and can cause data loss and/or inaccuracy.

                 At this point, there are two versions of
                 document A.  There is the first (original
                 document A) with User A's changes, and
                 now a new "save conflict" copy of document
                 A, with User B's changes (and there could
                 be a User C, User D, etc...).  This is very
                 time consuming to monitor/resolve these
                 save problems.
