MULTI-PURPOSE FIBER OPTIC CABLE RETENTION CHANNEL

      Disclosed is a design which satisfies three seemingly- separate
requirements: cable routing channel, system shipping tie- down
bracket, and earthquake retention system.

      Brackets made of 3/8" diameter steel rod were welded to the
underside of a computer frame chassis as shown in the figure.  These
brackets allow for easy routing of cables from the front of the
machine to the back.  In addition, the system can be tied down to a
shipping pallet by passing banding material through the brackets and
securing to  the pallet.  For earthquake installation scenarios, one
is able to pass restraining tethers through the brackets to restrain
the system.
