Abstract

Disclosed is the frame structure combined with the black resin frame and the color filter layers, when the frame means the non-transparent area around pixel-area in liquid crystal displays. This structure have the following features. 1. The sufficient function (optical density) of the frame can be achieved by the combination of the black resin frame and some color filter layers, when it is not achieved by only black resin frame. 2. The wall of the stacked color filter layers on the frame enables controlling uniformity of the cell thickness in liquid crystal displays with post-spacers, and also prevent occurrence of the following problems to pixel area; - misalignment of liquid crystal around seal.

Shield Frame with Resin

   Disclosed is the frame structure combined with the black
resin frame and the color filter layers, when the frame means the
non-transparent area around pixel-area in liquid crystal displays.
This structure have the following features.
  1.  The sufficient function (optical density) of the frame
       can be achieved by the combination of the black resin
       frame and some color filter layers, when it is not
       achieved by only black resin frame.
  2.  The wall of the stacked color filter layers on the
       frame enables controlling uniformity of the cell
       thickness in liquid crystal displays with post-spacers,
       and also prevent occurrence of the following problems
       to pixel area;
      - misalignment of liquid crystal around seal.
      - deterioration of liquid crystal's retention and/or
         thin film transistor's one.

   One example of above 1 and 2 structure is shown in the Figure.
