Chamfer Treatment of Ceramic Spacer Ring

   Disclosed is a surface treatment method of Ceramic spacer
ring, used in HDD (Hard Disk Drive).  And to add Barrel finishing
process before or after machining of the parts.

   The reason to use Ceramic spacer is to match thermal
expansion with glass disk.  The Ceramic spacer ring is made by
firing.  And same surface is machined precisely.  As a result,
usually the chamfer not so precise is remained as firing. (fig-1)

   The condition of that firing surface is rough, so sometimes
generate particles by Shock or Vibration.  In that case, the
particles could be cause of serious failure for HDD.  To solve the
problem, a surface treatment is required to the firing surface.  It
is easy to add machining or Plating, but these method needs cost.

   So Barrel finishing is added to process before final
machining.  Usually Barrel finishing process is used to remove barr
for metal parts.  But this process is effective treatment method for
firing surface of ceramic spacer ring.
