Abstract

Disclosed herein is a color filter and organic black matrix structure o n thin film transistor (TFT) substrate, which purpose is aperture ratio increase (removing cell assembly alignment limit). Color filter layer is conductive (mixture of pigment particle and conductive particle is sticking to the ITO electrode by electrolysis method). The combination of this color filter and organic black resign is put on TFT array.

Color Filter/Black Matrix on Array Technology

   Disclosed herein is a color filter and organic black matrix
structure o n thin film transistor (TFT) substrate,  which purpose
is aperture ratio increase (removing cell assembly alignment limit).
Color filter layer is conductive (mixture of pigment particle and
conductive particle is sticking to the ITO electrode by electrolysis
method).  The combination of this color filter and organic black
resign is put on TFT array.

   The organic resin black matrix (BM), which has high
resistance (non-conductive), is put on TFT array first, afterward
the color filter layer is put on ITO by electric field controlled
electrolysis method.  Then upper ITO is put on CF and BM area to
protect.

   Figure shows the cell configuration emphasized on TFT
area.  As shown in Figure, the CF/BM on TFT substrate (1) is
configured of lower ITO layer (2), organic resign black matrix (3),
metal line (4), and color filter layer (5), and upper ITO layer (6) .
The color filter includes red/green/blue pigment particle (7) and
conductive particle (8).  The counter substrate (9) is very simple
structure of counter ITO layer (10) and alignment layer (11), this
structure enables the alignment error cell assembly.  Liquid crystal
(12) is sandwiched by counter substrate (9) and CF/BM on TFT
substrate (1).

   Organic resin black matrix is fabricated inside of the
lower ITO edge to have the ITO window.  The color filter layer (Red/
