Abstract

Discribed herewith is the structure of TFT/LCD which realize high aperture ratio of I.P.S. mode display. I.P.S. mode TFT/LCD has an intrinsic wide-viewing angle property. But its light transmittance is too low for portable applications due to its small aperture ratio.

High Aperture Ratio I.P.S. Mode TFT/LCD

   Discribed herewith  is the structure of TFT/LCD which
realize high aperture ratio of  I.P.S. mode display.  I.P.S. mode
TFT/LCD has an intrinsic wide-viewing angle property.  But its light
transmittance is too low for portable applications  due to its small
aperture ratio.

   Hereafter, the method to resolve this limitation is
explained.  Fig. 1 is the top view of new high aperture ration
I.P.S. structure.  Fig. 2 is the cross sectional view of it.  The
thickness of transparent polymer layer is 2 - 4 micro-meter.  Data
line is located under pixel common electrode.
