Display of Total Unused Storage Space Available within a Volume

Disclosed is an invention that improves the usability of
disk management software utilities by selectively displaying
pertinent information in the communication mode most appropriate

In current operating systems, the determination of unused
disk storage space must be made one partition at a time.  In a large
system with many partitions this can be time consuming.

This invention allows the user to see on one screen all of
the assigned drive letters and the unused portion of each volume.
This allows the user to easily scan and compare sizes and file system
formats of all unused space within the system.

This invention solves the problem by presenting the
information quickly, easily, and concisely in a manner which
facilitates user decision-making and reduces cognitive load.  It
automates the organizing and structuring of data in such a manner
that it anticipates the use of the information by the user,
improving ease of use.
