Abstract

Extend a Windows desktop to include SNA Client objects as they are advertised by a Communications Server. All SNA client objects are advertised by the owning server and are displayed in network searches through Network Neighborhood. Each object has properties associated to them that will allow a user to connect to that service without the need for any client configuration. These objects should also be "shortcut-able" so that they may be easily referenced with out the need to search the network neighborhood again. The SNA object interface should be a published specification that any Emulator ISVs can implement to.

SNA Client Desktop Object Extensions for Windows95/98/NT4.0

Extend a Windows desktop to include SNA Client objects as
they are advertised by a Communications Server.  All SNA client
objects are advertised by the owning server and are displayed in
network searches through Network Neighborhood.  Each object has
properties associated to them that will allow a user to connect to
that service without the need for any client configuration.  These
objects should also be "shortcut-able" so that they may be easily
referenced with out the need to search the network neighborhood
again.  The SNA object interface should be a published specification
that any Emulator ISVs can implement to.

Objects include things such as 3270 Lu Pools, 5250
services, and API services.  As an example, a user clicking on an
3270 pool object would automatically get a 3270 screen to that
resource.
