LAN Connect Conference Phone

   Disclosed is a device which allows portable computing
devices to make audio input/output and wireless LAN connections.

   The LAN connect conference phone is similar to other
conference phones except it has an incredible number of features.
When one goes to a conference call with a laptop, one simply
disconnects the LAN connection from the office, connect the remote
transmitter/receiver to the LAN card, and goes to the application
provided in the software install to switch from LAN connection mode
to conference phone connection mode.  The software will automatically
assign a new set of DNS, IP address, and Gateway numbers.  Once, in
the conference phone mode, the software can connect the laptop's
microphone and speakers to the conference phone (headphones or a
head-set could be used).  A function key can be mapped to mute the
laptop's microphone.  In addition, using Via-Voice technology, the
software can transcribe all the words exchanged into a text file.
The text can be automatically color coded or labeled to show that it
was either a sent or received transcription.  All features can be
turned on or off in the software's user preferences.  When one
switches back from conference phone connection mode to LAN connection
mode using the software application, all the network settings are
changed back and all without having to re-boot the machine.
