Electronic Selectable Field of View

A method for electronic adjustment of the size (pixels)
and the location (start and end pixel) of scan window in a document
scanner is disclosed.

The area of document processing, specifically image
capture, requires the ability of capturing documents of various
widths and heights.

The scan window in some document scanners is defined in
software; (e.g., by the use of a data file).  The two parameters,
start pixel and scan window width, are stored in this file.  At the
scanner initialization time,  the file is read,  and the hardware
programmed to use the defined scan window for the scanner/camera
operation.
