Image Size Correction to Correct for Transport Induced Errors

A method for correcting a scanned image size is
disclosed.  Also disclosed is a method for generating constant size
image regardless of a document size.

In an automated scanning system,  where a document
transports by a scanning station, a captured image size is reduced if
there is document skew; a fundamental limitation.

Use of a resize engine allows for altering the image size,
while the image is still in captured resolution and 8 bits of gray,
thus correcting for the skew induced size discrepancy.  As a part of
the image analysis of the raw captured image,  one is able to compute
the document skew angle.  This in turn leads to the computation for
correct image size on both horizontal and vertical direction.

The computed image size can be passed to the resize engine,
resulting in a corrected image from the capture system.  The size
corrected image is passed to subsequent image processing.

Similarly, the applications can specify the desired image
size for the captured image.  This information can be used by the
resize engine to produce desired image size,  regardless of the
document size.
