The raster-image based animation consists of several raster images. The size of animation depends on both image size (the number of pixels) and the number of frames.

An Efficient Way to Reduce File Size for Raster-Image Based Animation

   Disclosed is a method for reducing the file size of
animation, which consists of several raster images.  Our method
generates efficient pixel data for compression.  The raster-image
based animation consists of several raster images.  The size of
animation depends on both image size (the number of pixels) and the
number of frames.

   In the different rectangle area, there are normally many
pixels which are same as those in previous frame.  These redundant
pixels are meaningless for animation, but often include various
data, so that compression performance becomes worth.

   Our method makes all the redundant pixels
transparent.  That is, they are set to some unique pixel value in
the frame.  As a result, compression performance becomes better and
that reduces the size of animation.
