Groove-incorporated Wire Forming for HGA Over-the-Top Looping

   Disclosed is the forming pin, the shape of the tip and the
forming method at Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) process to achieve its
lower forming height and suitable symmetric wire forming.

   The disclosed forming pin is illustrated in 1-1 to 1-2 of
figure 1.  The geometry of the tip is grooved as shown in 1-3 to 1-4
of figure 1.  The purpose of the mentioned grooves is to hold wires
into the grooves.

   The disclosed forming method is illustrated in figure
2.  The forming pin is positioned in the middle of two-pair wires
that are not formed yet.  (2-1-T)  The forming pin is pivoted and
moves around from "J1" to "J3".  (2-1-S to 2-3-S)  The tip of the
forming pin contacts wires at the pin position J1" and wires are
partially in the grooves.  (2-1-S) The surfaces "D" in the grooves
hold wires downward.  (2-1-C)

   Wires are completely in the grooves at the pin position
"J2".  (2-2-S) The grooves hold wires securely by pushing the
surface "D" down further.  (2-2-C) The tip width of the forming pin
is fixed as "X" while a gap of the two-pair wires get small with the
pin rotational travel.  (2-2-T)  The surfaces "E" in the grooves push
the two-pair wires away to the both flanges.  (2-2-C)

   The forming pin stops pivoting at the pin position "J3"
and the two-pair wires are pushed away furthermore.  Consequently,
the radial wire geometry "F" which is elastically bent is obtained.
