Abstract

In one embodiment, a battery connection structure includes a connector plug configured substantially in the shape and size of a coin cell. A battery e.g. a long-life battery is connected to the connector. The connector is configured for plugging on to a coin-cell holder. For example, the connector is built from a piece of two-sided printed-circuit material. The connector may be hand cut or made by a known printed-circuit production method.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]               This invention relates generally, to a battery connection structure for a printed circuit board (PCB) used especially in tracking systems.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]                   Generally, a tracking system uses a personal-computer motherboard that contains a lithium coin cell e.g. standard 2032 type for providing backup power of CMOS RAM and real-time clock, when the system runs out of  power.  There exists a need for longer battery life in the system.  The longer-life battery needs to be connected to the existing motherboard. 

[0003]               Moreover, conventionally, battery is connected to header connector that does not connect directly to the battery holder, causing field-failure problems.
