Abstract

In an embodiment, a local web application server is run from a memory such as, a CD-ROM of a laptop. At startup, a search for available services is done to create a registry. For example, the services may be either local or on a central application server. When a particular application is invoked from the browser, the registry is queried. If the global service is available, the application binds to it. Else, the application binds to the local service.

A DECENTRALIZED SERVICE SYSTEM

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]   This invention relates generally, to service applications, and more particularly, to a decentralized service system especially for medical imaging equipments.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]    Generally, the Field Engineer (FE) is provided a set of service tools, which may be run from a remote application server over the internet.  The FE may not always have access the network connection needed to access such a server. Therefore it would be beneficial to provide offline access to such tools without having to create a distinct offline application.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0003]    FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of the decentralized service system according to one embodiment of this invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0004]    Various embodiments of this invention provide a decentralized service system, especially for medical imaging equipments.  However, the embodiments are not limited and may be implemented in connection with other systems such as, industrial imaging systems.

[0005]     FIG.1 shows an embodiment, wherein a local Web Application server is run from a memory such as, a CD-ROM of a laptop.  At startup, a search for available services is done to create a registry.

[0006]   For example, the services may be either local or on a central application server. When a particular application is invoked from the browser, the registry is queried.  If the global service is available, the application binds to it.  Else, the application binds to the local service.

[0007]    Thus, the decentralized service system according to this invention provides a way to provide...
