Framework and implementation for automating remote uninstall, install and configuration of software

A generic, product independent framework with well defined interfaces and its implementation required to automate install, uninstall and configuration of software stack is disclosed in this article.

Following Figure 1.1 illustrates the framework used to automate uninstall, install and configuration of software on test servers

Test Environment setup Module

This is the kernel of the framework which interacts with various other modules in achieving the automation of software uninstall, install and configuration on a test server. The steps followed by the kernel are same as figure 1.0

List of software (Name and Version) to be installed and configured

This is the input to test environment setup module containing the details of the list of software to be installed

Uninstall, Install and Configuration Knowledge base

Knowledge base from where the test environment setup module will take the uninstall, install and configuration instructions specific to software releases and platform variations. This knowledge base makes the complete framework generic for uninstall, install and configuration of any software supporting silent install, uninstall commands.
