Devices for Providing Convenience Accessories for Laptop Users

Disclosed are devices that solve the inconvenience caused by trying to carry and juggle multiple small accessories when travelling or when confined to a tight space such as an airplane. The core idea of these devices use the space normally occupied by the CD/DVD drive for a variety of convenience accessories. Accessories include but are not limited to a handle for carrying the laptop, cup holder, mousing surface, headphones, a storage drawer, mirror, etc. Current solutions require the user to carry some of these accessories separately. The drawbacks of the known solutions are that the user must remember to bring along all these items and it is inconvenient to juggle them. The advantage is ease of carrying and accessing the laptop and accessories.

These devices can be implemented by using the Ultrabay slot in a laptop to house a variety of accessories. The accessories must use the Ultabay form factor and locking mechanism, but do not require a connector since the accessories do not require power or connectivity to the laptop. The intent is that a variety of accessories could be created to this specification. Specific examples include:
