N-[1-(R)-(-)-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]-3-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-aminopropane hydrochloride is a calcimimetic agent that increases the sensitivity of the calcium-sensing receptor to activation by extracellular calcium. SENSIPAR® tablets for oral administration contain the active ingredient N-[1- (R)-(-)-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]-3-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-aminopropane hydrochloride, and available in strengths of 30 mg, 60 mg, and 90 mg.

Its chemical formula is:

N-[1-(R)-(-)-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]-3-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-aminopropane hydrochloride was supplied by Amgen.

Pattern#1:

SENSIPAR® 90mg tablet may be identified by an X-ray powder diffraction pattern with peaks at 7.1,
10.5, 14.0, 15.0, 16.1, 18.0, 19.1, 21.4, 24.4, 25.5 degrees two-theta, ± 0.2 degrees two-theta. The active ingredient present in SENSIPAR® tablet is designated form I.

X-Ray Powder Diffraction analysis was performed on ARL (Scintag) X-Ray powder diffractometer model X'TRA, Cu-tube, and solid state detector. A round standard sample holder with round zero background plate was used. Scanning parameters: range 2-40 deg.2θ, step scan, step size of 0.02 degrees 2θ., counter time: 20 sec.
