Text Messaging for Rear-Windshields.

The technology for text messaging and the technology for placing text between panes of glass both already exist. My proposal would be a marriage of the two already existing technologies. Basically, the receiver for the text messaging would have to be connected to the two paned rear windshield. Once those two pieces are in place, changing the message in the windshield would be as easy as text messaging yourself.

This invention has huge potential. We have seen how big of an impact text messaging has had on today's society. Also, we have seen for years how willing people are to use their automobile to express themselves (bumper stickers, etc.). If you could change an outgoing message displayed in your rear windshield at will, you could communicate things about yourself, as well as communicating thoughts to other individuals.

We know that road rage is the result of overcrowded driving conditions, coupled with the inability to communicate effectively with other drivers. This new invention could be used to apologize for accidentally cutting someone off, effectively neutralizing a potentially perilous situation. Beyond that, there are some safety concerns that need to be addressed. The impact to a driver's ability from the windshield is believed to be null. There are clocks that use this technology to display the time. It is not intrusive, to say the least, and very easy to see through.
