      A process for purifying 4'-(2-propyl-4-methyl-6- (methylbenzaimidazole-2-yl)-benzimidazole1-ylmethyl)biphenyl-2- carboxylic acid

    The process for preparation of the crude 4'-(2-propyl-4-methyl-6- (methylbenzaimidazole-2-yl)-benzimidazole1-ylmethyl)biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid is described in publication No.001251719D.

    Pure 4'- (2-propyl-4-methyl-6-(methylbenzaimidazole-2-yl)-benzimidazole1- ylmethyl)biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid is obtained by purifying the crude product comprising: combining 4'- (2-propyl-4-methyl-6-(methylbenzaimidazole-2-yl)- benzimidazole1-ylmethyl)biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid and an alcohol, or a mixture of an alcohol and water to obtain a slurry. Preferably, the alcohol is methanol or ethanol. Preferably, the alcohol and water are in a ratio of about 9:1. The obtained slurry is stirred for one day, preferably from about 3 to about 24 hours, at a temperature of about 25ºC to reflux, preferably at about 70ºC. Then, the mixture is cooled, preferably to a temperature of about 0-25ºC, and the product is recovered.

    Recovery may be performed by any method known in the art, such as by filtration under reduced pressure, washing of the obtained product to dispose of remaining solvents, and drying.

Example 1: Purification of the crude of 4'-(2-propyl-4-methyl-6- (methylbenzaimidazole-2-yl)-benzimidazole1-ylmethyl)biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid
