Abstract

In an embodiment, the dust protection system includes a using pulley at every corner with endless belt shown as in FIG. 1, which closes 100 % gap at any given position of the cart. This configuration avoids additional force required for moving the cart because the endless belt moves along the cart without any friction. The endless belt is fixed on one side of the moving cart. The drive for the cart comes from the 'ball screw' and nut mechanism as shown. The cart is being guided by 'fixed guide rod' with open pillow blocks on either side of the moving cart. Hence depending on the direction of the nut the cart move to and fro along with the cart and belt hence closing 100 % gap required for cart to travel.

A DUST PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR A PATIENT TABLE IN A MEDICAL IMAGING APPARATUS

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]               This invention relates generally to patient tables, and more particularly to, a dust protection system for a patient table in a medical imaging apparatus.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]                The existing nylon brush provided along the cart, needs extra pushing force to move the cart, as it has to move bending the bristles of brush.  The existing dust protection is not 100 % and wherever the cart is positioned dust enters due to bending of brush at that location.  The dust that enters create additional friction which reduces the overall performances in terms of smoothness

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0003]                 FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of the dust protection system for a patient table according to some embodiment of this invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0004]    Various embodiments of this invention provide a dust protection system for a patient table in a medical imaging apparatus such as, Positron Emission Tomography apparatus.  However, the embodiments are not limited and may be implemented in connection with other systems such as, for example, inspection tables in industrial imaging apparatus.
