Abstract

In an embodiment, the linear guide mechanism uses a chain of multiple links to derive a linear motion connected to each other without any guides on either end. The beginning and the last link are fixed and last link is fixed to the moving cart. The linear motion is attained by means of a fixed, rotating ball screw and a moving nut. This moving nut is fixed to the moving cart. By means of motor and pulley mechanism the ball screw is allowed to rotate and hence the transmission takes place from motor to ball screw, to nut to cart. The multiple link guides the patient stretcher only in a straight line and the direction of rotation of screw defines the motion of the patient either forward or backward. This configuration does not require alignment. Also less force is required for moving the stretcher. Is simple to assemble and skilled labor is not required.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]               This invention relates generally, to a linear guide, and more particularly to, a linear motion guide mechanism for a patient table in a medical imaging apparatus.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]               Generally, it is highly impossible to align two parallel guides in all three axes. The force required for moving the patient is very high and varies.   A highly skilled labor,  time consuming and special manufacturing techniques are required especially for making the guides and high precision pillow block

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005]                Various embodiments of this invention provide a linear motion guide mechanism for a patient table in a medical imaging apparatus.  However, the embodiments are not limited and may be implemented in connection with other systems such as, for example, inspection tables in an industrial imaging apparatus.
