Abstract

In an embodiment, a new console for an X-ray machine, is designed with Bluetooth technology for wireless communication. This console acts as a remote control for the X-ray Machine with LCD display in it. The X-ray generator generates X-rays according to the kV and mA values set at the user console. Since the selected values should be accurate, it is preferred to be displayed on the LCD screen of the console. The Bluetooth antenna is mounted outside X-ray shielding so that Bluetooth signal strength remains high. This technique uses reconfigurable smart sensor nodes that are self aware and self-configurable and autonomous, helps in interacting with other devices. Whenever the wireless console gets external interrupt from any other Bluetooth configured medical device it requests for the bluetooth address from that device and then compares that address with the addresses stored in the database. If both the addresses match, then console establishes link with that device. In other words wireless console having smart sensors, sense the other bluetooth devices and start learning about its characters and then try to establish the link. So this console can be used as Universal wireless remote control for controlling all equipments, which are of same make.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]               This invention relates generally, to a user console for a medical imaging apparatus, and more particularly to, a wireless user console for an X-ray apparatus.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]                  The present day need is of a user-friendly wireless technology in each and every application. Wireless technology in medical applications mean increased safety and quality of life. It is a known fact that, in medical and industrial facilities using X-ray generating Equipment, care must be taken to protect Radiographers, Surgeons, Engineers, Operators and other personnel engaged in radiation-related work. Hence there is a need for operators to keep away from the X-ray radiations.

[0003]                The remote console with wires become clumsier and will be limited across the room. Wires can cause danger while carrying the console and there can be possibilities of wires getting cut while moving. If wires get cut there is a risk of whole equipment getting shutdown. A wireless user console with Bluetooth chip is designed to replace cables by taking the information normally carried by the cable, and transmitting it at a special frequency to a receiver Bluetooth chip. Since Bluetooth signals can pass through wall, using this wireless console, X-ray machine can be operated remotely across the room. So that operator can be saved from X-ray hazards. The smart sensors technique used in this wireless user console can minimize the number of consoles needed for each machine and one console can act as Universal wireless console for all the X-ray machines. The Universal wireless console technique can be implemented in Digital radiography system and also in mobile X-ray system such as, those driven by battery.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0004]    Various embodiments of this invention provide a wireless user console for medical imaging apparatus.  However, the embodiments are not limited and may be implemented in connection with other systems such as, for example, industrial imaging apparatus.

[0005]    The main objective of the present invention is to provide a simple user-friendly universal wireless user console comprising Bluetooth technology, example for X-ray machines. Basically the technique is to achieve wireless communication between an X-ray generator and the user console. Presently at the X-Ray generator side, CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol is used for wired communication and it is replaced by bluetooth wireless Protocol. And new console is designed with Bluetooth technology for wireless communication.
